The Marlins have signed 28-year old lefty swinging 1B/OF Josh Brown to a minor league deal. Brown played in 115 games in Mexico and AAA-ball last year in which he was 118 of 401 (.294 avg, .764 OPS) with 46 runs scored, 9 homers, 43 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Brown’s only major league experience came back in 2010 with the Cleveland Indians. Brown played in 26 games for the Tribe in 2010 and he was 20 for 87 (.230 avg, .582 OPS) with 9 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Brown will get a shot to win a bench job with the Marlins next spring.
